Bernice "Bernie" Deem, Senior Professional in Human Resources, is the owner and president of HR Consulting Company, LLC, a statewide management consulting firm specializing in human resources. Prior to opening her company in 1999, Bernie had 20 years of hands on experience in HR, culminating as the Senior Executive of Human Resources for One Valley Bank and Bancorp (now BB&T).
During her HR career, Bernie has worked in every area of Human Resources, from writing handbooks to creating comprehensive salary administration plans. She also conducted seminars in several states on Leadership Development as well as providing training for HR professionals. She has served on the faculty of the West Virginia School of Banking for 15 years and has been rated as an outstanding instructor. Her credentials include being honored by the Society of Human Resources as the recipient of the annual HR Award of Excellence.
Bernie has written several articles on topics such as Painless Discipline, the Graceful Exit, and Improving Employee Performance. Her community service includes volunteering as the Personnel Officer for the Kanawha County YWCA where she serves on the Board.
